Six girl students of an ashram school in Surgana taluka of the district were hospitalised for suspected food poisoning this afternoon.

A medical officer at the Nashik Civil Hospital said the six started feeling uneasy and began vomiting a little while after they had their mid-day meal of 'khichdi' at the ashram school around 1 pm.

The school is run under the Maharashtra government's tribal development project.

The students were brought to the Nashik Civil Hospital from the sub-district hospital, where they were first taken, for treatment.

According to civil hospital officials, the exact reason behind the food poisoning is being investigated.
