Six gold biscuits valued at Rs 30 lakh were seized from a passenger from the Howrah-bound Kamrup Express in the railway station here today, a GRP official said.

Government Railway Police (GRP) station officer-in-charge Pankaj Kalita led a team for routine checking and seized the gold biscuits weighing approximately one kg from the possession of the passenger identified as E Muningbe who came from Dimapur in Nagaland.

Muningbe was arrested, Kalita said, adding that the seized gold was handed over to the customs department.

There were five incidents of gold seizure from the railway station from April to October this year, he said.
