Six held, 60 kg ganja recovered

Police today claimed to have busted a gang involved in smuggling of ganja with the arrest of six persons, including a woman, and recovered 60 kg contraband from them.

Based on a tip-off, Kaushalya (50), who is the kingpin of the racket, Sonu (25), Sumit (27), Banti (29), Vijay (25) and Suraj (30) were arrested at Super Corridor here, Crime Branch Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vinayprakash Paul told PTI today.

The gang members were going in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which was laden with 60 kg ganja, when it was intercepted.

Lakhan Jat, who is wanted in several loot cases, among others, managed to escape from the spot. A search has been launched to trace him, Paul added.
 

Police are investigating the case to find out the people whom the consignment of contraband was to be delivered.
