Six held for murder of Ghaziabad temple priest

Six persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a priest (mahant) of a temple near Nasirpur railway crossing in the city, police said today.

On the intervening night of April 28 and 29, mahant Nasik Giri was killed at his quarters inside the temple. The body was found the next morning.

SP City Aakash Tomar said six persons along with his nephew Papoo, resident of Ballia district, have been arrested yesterday evening.

Pappu confessed that he had smothered to death his uncle Sitaram alias Mahant Nasik Giri with the help of his accomplices named Deepak, Dinesh, Avdhesh, Tribhuvan and Ashokm, the SP said.
 

Papoo said that he killed the Mahant to loot the temple money.
