Six persons were injured in a clash between two groups following a minor accident in Deoband area here, police said today.
A group of youths were travelling in a car last night when their vehicle hit a youth near Balmiki Basti in the area, leading to an argument which soon turned violent as some locals joined in and indulged in brickbatting and firing.
The injured, including the youth who was hit by the car, have been admitted to a primary health centre.
"The situation is under control," Senior Superintendent of Police (Deoband) Nitin Tiwari said.
Security personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident from happening as the two groups belong to different communities.
Police is probing the incident based on complaints lodged by both the groups, Tiwari said, adding that a case under National Security Act might be filed against the accused.
