Six persons, including two children, were killed while 10 others sustained injuries when their jeep collided with a truck near Mahemdavad town of Kheda district today, police said.
The incident took place on the road connecting Kheda to Mahemdavad, at around 6 AM when the vehicle carrying a group of labourers from Rajasthan's Banswada district was travelling to Bhavnagar and was hit by a truck coming from opposite direction, Mahemdavad police station sub-inspector G P Parmar said.
The labourers were travelling to Bhavnagar along with their families in search of employment.

Primary investigations revealed that the truck driver might have lost control as he dozed off and rammed the truck into the jeep, the officer said.
Four persons, including two children, died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital, Parmar said.
The deceased were identified as Hiral Damor (2), Naresh Damor (30), Mukesh Damor (13), Subhash Damor (30), Laxman Garasiya (39) and Vithaliben Damor (30).
"At least 10 others were also severely injured and were rushed to Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. We have lodged a case against the unidentified driver who fled from the spot after the mishap," he added.
