More than 1,500 houses were damaged and 207 of them collapsed as rains lashed 18 cities and counties in Guizhou province in southwest China, local officials said.

Over 631 people have been relocated to avoid flood risks, Xinhua news agency reported.

Meanwhile, dry-hot weather triggered several forest fires in northeast China's Heilongjiang province.

Several fire sites were recorded on Greater Hinggan Mountains, Xunke county in Heihe city as well as Yichun city, the forest fire prevention headquarters in Heilongjiang said.

Rising temperatures and windy weather have created high risks and the frequent occurrence of forest fires, the headquarters explained.

Over 4,000 people have been sent to control a forest fire which ripped through Tayuan forest on the Greater Hinggan Mountains.

In Yichun's Wuying forest, 3,000 rescuers and one helicopter have been dispatched to extinguish a fire.

More rescuers have also rushed to put out forest fires at other sites, officials said.
