Six killed as jeep falls into Narmada river in MP

Six persons were killed and eight others injured when a jeep packed with passengers plunged into the Narmada river near here, police said today.

The mishap took place last night when the jeep carrying 17 passengers fell into the river, police said, adding three passengers were reported missing.

Whereas, three out of eight injured passengers are stated to be in serious condition, police added.

Bodies of six persons have been recovered while three others are still missing, they said.

All the passengers were residents of Pati village in the district and returning after taking part in a festival at Balpur village in adjoining Alirajpur district.
 

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the mishap.
