Six killed in heavy rains in Pakistan's Sindh

At least six people, including three children, have been killed and several others injured in heavy rainfall that has lashed parts of Pakistan's southern Sindh province, including the port city of Karachi.

The sudden downpour led to traffic jams, flooding of low-lying areas and power breakdowns in many parts of the city.

Rescue officials said that six deaths had been reported from different areas since the rains started yesterday night with three young boys among those killed in rain related incidents.

A 12-year-old-boy and and his three friends were badly injured when the wall of their house collapsed in Gadap town. He later died in the hospital.
 

In another incident, two boys were drowned while swimming in Sheedi Goth area of Shah Latif town here.

"One of them drowned and the other survived but died today in hospital," a rescue official of Edhi trust said.

In another incident in Gadap town, the roof of a house collapsed injuring five members of a family and two of them later died while another man was electrocuted in the Metroville area.

Severe traffic jams and power breakdowns were also witnessed at the city.

According to the Met Office, more light rains or drizzle with occasional thunderstorms are expected in the metropolis during the next 24 hours.
