According to police records, Didi Sanjay Thombre died of suspected snake bite on October 10, 2011 when she was just six months old.
However, the girl's father Sanjay Thombre, lodged a complaint with Wavi Police under Sinnar taluka on June 24 alleging that his wife Tai Sanjay Thombre and her parents poisoned the baby girl and then buried her in an agricultural field, police said today.
Based on the complaint, a medical squad from Dhule, the tehsildar of Sinnar and a police squad went to Gonde village yesterday and exhumed the remains of the girl from the field.
The remains including her bones have been sent to a forensic laboratory in Mumbai for examination, police added.
