Six new Additional Judges in Allahabad HC

Six new Additional Judges were appointed to the Allahabad High Court today, taking the total strength to 95.

A judge of the Calcutta High Court was transferred in the same capacity to the Rajasthan High Court.

Rakesh Srivastava, Surya Prakash Kesarwani, Vipin Sinha, Karuna Nand Bajpayee, Manoj Kumar Gupta and Anjani Kumar Mishra have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court for a period of two years, an official statement said here.

The approved strength of the Allahabad High Court, the largest in the country, is 160. However, several posts of judges -- both permanent and additional -- have been lying vacant. As on April 1, it had 73 vacancies.
 

Meanwhile, Justice Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, Judge of the Calcutta High Court has been transferred in the same capacity to the Rajasthan High Court.

As per the communique issued in this regard, Justice Ahluwalia has been directed to assume charge on or before April 25.
