Six members of a family, including four children, were buried alive when a truck carrying sand overturned on a hut at a construction site here, police said.

A 32-year-old man, his wife and their four children were buried when the tipper-truck overturned on a hut late last night when it was negotiating a turn at the site, Deputy Superintendent of Police Harpal Singh said.

The six were taken to Rajindra Hospital here where they were declared brought dead, police said.

The victims were identified as Raju, his wife Mansi (30) and their children Khushi (1), Sheetal (3), Nihal (5) and Ashu (10), they said.

The driver had lost control over the vehicle as the land at the construction site had softened due to rains following which it over turned, police said.
