Six people arrested for circulating fake currency

Six people have been arrested in connection with circulating counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs 1.93 lakh in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, police said here today.

Based on a tip-off a police team visited Enjapudi village in West Godavari district, where six people including former Eluru Municipal Corporator A Srinivas were arrested, after which the fake currency was seized from them.

Two laptops, one computer, one printer and some papers were also seized the police said.

"We are investigating the case and interrogating the accused. We suspect that some more people are involved in the racket, since huge amount of counterfeit notes were seized in the district during earlier raids," the police said, adding that a case has been registered.
