Five days after the dacoity at a a house in posh Salt Lake township, six persons including the mastermind have been arrested in connection with the crime.

The mastermind, a cook in the neighbouring house of the CE block residence, Sitaram Das and five others - Pappu Yadav (22) alias Pardesi, Manoj Kumar Das (18) alias Congressi, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Raja Halder (34) and Tapan Purkait (28) were arrested by Bidhannagar Police late last night, DCP Santosh Pandey said today.

Sitaram, Pappu, Rajesh, Manoj all residents of Bihar's Banka district were arrested from Kestopur area while Raja was and Tapan were picked up from Jharkhali and Kultali areas respectively late last night, he said.

"Pappu planned the entire crime and contacted these people. He is the mastermind in this case. Because he knew the household very well he planned it," Pandey said adding that they were also looking whether anybody else was involved in the crime or not.

Police started suspecting Sitaram after he disappeared from the locality following his grilling by the sleuths, the day after the crime took place.

It was also learnt that Pappu had earlier planned the crime 10-15 days ago but because of being "novice" they had dropped the idea on that day, Pandey said.

On Friday, Pappu again regrouped everybody and after Amarnath Chakraborty left the house in the evening they went to the house for commiting the crime and after the dacoity, they left for their workplaces.

"We will press for TI parade for a few among those arrested and police remand for others. We need to know where they have kept the looted materials and what they have disposed off," Pandey said.

Sources in the Bidhannagar Police said that some of the looted items were recovered from the arrested while many others were still missing.

During investigation, the police had recovered toy guns from the house but the CCTV footage from the area failed to help them in their probe.

A gang of around eight miscreants looted valuables worth over rupees ten lakh from Amarnath Chakraborty's house in CE block of Salt Lake last Friday.
