Six policemen, including a Sub-inspector of Police, were injured today when local residents clashed with them after an elderly woman died under a sand-laden truck that overturned upon her at Hasnabad in North 24-Parganas district.
The police said the local residents began to throw stones to the policemen when they went to Amtala village after hearing the incident that Fatema Bibi (55) died after the truck overturned on her.
She was going with her granddaughter along the road when the truck overturned and she died on the spot, the police said.
Locals damaged the truck, the driver of the truck fled after the accident and one of the locals was arrested, the police said.
