At least six police personnel were injured in a mob attack today at Panisandha village under Bhograi police station area in Odisha's Balasore district, police said.
The incident took place this afternoon when a police team reached the village bodering West Bengal after getting information that a man was being detained in a house.
"At least 6 police personnel - two assistant sub-inspectors and four constables - were injured in the attack. They were rushed to the Balasore district headquarters hospital," said Satya Ranjan Mallick, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Jeleswar.

Police said the villagers had gheraoed the house of a man whose wife and daughter died under mysterious circumstances on May 15. The man's in-laws had lodged an FIR at the police station alleging that their daughter was killed by her husband. The husband was absconding from the village since death of his wife and daughter.
However, when the man returned to village yesterday, the angry people gheraoed his house and asked him to surrender. When he refused to oblige, the villagers forcibly entered into his house.
When police reached the place to rescue him, the villagers attacked the cops, the SDPO said.
Mallick said police force had been deployed at the village as the situation remained tense after police rescued the man.
