Six policemen were killed and two others critically injured when their armoured vehicle was blown up by militants today in Egypt's restive northern Sinai city of Rafah, Interior Ministry said.
The incident occurred when unknown militants targeted the vehicle with an explosive device which exploded when the convoy was passing.
"An explosive device went off near one of the APCs (armoured personnel carriers) of a joint police and army security convoy on the road between El-Arish and Rafah, killing six policemen including an officer and wounding two others," the ministry said in a statement.
