Six persons, who had attacked a resident of south Delhi's Sarita Vihar area during a robbery bid, have been arrested, police said today.

The six accused were arrested in late night raids at several places yesterday.

Seventh accused -- Raj Kumar -- had been caught on July 15 when the robbery attempt was made, DCP South East district police Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.

A gang of seven robbers had attacked the Sarita Vihar residence of Rajkumar Rawat, a tehsildar posted in Haryana, believing that he possessed huge amounts of hawala money.

His son Nitin Rawat and wife Sunita were present in the house when the gang tried to loot the house, the officer said.

The robbers attacked Sunita but fled away when they saw Nitin, police said, adding that Kumar was, however, nabbed.

A bag containing three knives, a rod and tape was recovered from him, police said.

Based on his interrogation and electronic surveillance, the other six accused -- Ajay (24), Ravi (24), Mohammad Abdulla (30), Nasim (22), Wasim (26), and Guddu (28) -- were arrested yesterday, they said.

"It was revealed during their interrogation that Ravi, who worked as an auto driver, had got the information that huge hawala money was kept at Raj Kumar's house. He shared this information with Nasim and Wasim who then planned the robbery and recruited more members to execute their plan," the officer said.
