In two separate incidents, six fishermen, who were struggling in sea off Kodiakarai coast in the district, have been rescued and brought to the shores today.

Three fishermen of Samanthapettai were stranded in the sea after the engine of the boat in which they had put out to sea on May 21 developed a snag. One of them managed to swim while the other two were struggling in waters.

On information, the Indian Coast Guard personnel rescued the two fishermen and brought them to the shore today.

In the other incident, four fishermen, who venture into sea from Jagadapattinam in Pudukottai district on May 21, were in distress after their boat capsized following strong winds off Kodiakarai yesterday.

Fellow fishermen, who passed by the area, rescued and brought them to the shore.
