Six TN fishermen remanded to judicial custody

A Sri Lankan court today remanded to judicial custody six local fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on the charge of ganja smuggling on March 25, officials here said.

They have been lodged in the Jaffna prison, Pamban fishermen organisation president U.Arulanandam said.

The six were allegedly loading 110 kg of ganja in a country boat near Katchatheevu to smuggle it to Sri Lanka when the Lankan navy personnel arrested them.

They were taken to Nedundeevu and produced before the Oorkavalthurai court which remanded them to judicial custody.
