Six tourist points in Mahabaleshwar closed due to heavy rain

Due to the heavy rains, the administration has closed six famous tourist spots in the hill station of Mahabaleshwar in Satara district of Maharashtra to avoid mishaps.

"We conducted inspection of various sightseeing spots along with the forests officials, and in view of heavy rains, decided to close six points - Arthur Point, Savitri Point, Ling Mala waterfall, Elphinstone point, Ludwik and Kate's Point as a precautionary measure," said Ramesh Shendge, tehsildar of Mahabaleshwar.

"Tourists will not be allowed to go to these places till further notice," he said.

The scenic Venna lake in the hill station was now overflowing, he said.
 

Meanwhile, an officer at Mahabaleshwar police station said a portion of a road in Poladpur ghat leading to the hill station got damaged today due to the heavy rain and traffic has been stopped.
