Six ultras including woman arrested

Acting on a tip-off that around 30-35 ultras had gathered in a forest near Chilparas village, a joint operation by the Border Security Force and state police was launched yesterday in which the woman and five others were nabbed, Kanker SP Rahul Bhagat told PTI today.

The six have been identified as -- Chandrashekhar Markam (19), Sudhram Usendi (28), Beeraram Usendi (35), Sakharam Usendi (35), Birjuram (26) and Mali Netram (35).

Mali was heading the women's Naxalite wing in Panidobir area and was managing their Chetna drama group, he said, adding that the others were active members of an armed squad in the area.

 

During interrogation, the accused admitted of planning an attack on the BSF and other police personnel in Raoghat Koylibed area, he said.

Two loaded guns, a detonator, four packets of explosives, 12 bundles of wire, Naxal literature, a motorcycle, batteries, medicines and items of daily routine were recovered from their possession, he added.
