Six wildlife smugglers held in Ghaziabad

Police have arrested six wildlife smugglers today and recovered one tortoise of rare species from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, police team stopped a Maruti 800 in Raj Nagar extension area and conducted search of car and the riders and recovered one turtle from car, SHO Sihani Gate Upendra Yadav said.

During interrogation all of them confessed that they brought the tortoise from Meerut and were going to sell it in Delhi, Yadav added.

Police have informed the forest department regarding this incident.

The FIR is yet to be registered under Wild Life Act.

They will be sent to jail after interrogation, said SHO.
