SJVN Foundation contributes Rs 50-lakh to CM Relief Fund

Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Foundation has contributed Rs 50-lakh to Chief minister Relief Fund here today.

The cheque of Rs 50-lakh was presented to chief mister Virbhadra Singh by R N Misra, Chairman-cum Managing Director (CMD) and Director Personnel, N L Sharma was also present on the occasion.

On this occasion, Misra informedthe chief ministerthat against the MoU target of generation of 8,700 million units of electricity for current financial year from its power stations, SJVN has generated more than 8,300 million units till date.

He further told that financial position of SJVN also remained healthy with a gross turnover of Rs2498.49 crore and net profit ofRs 1589.39 crore in 2015-16.
 

Owing to the excellent financial performance SJVN paid a dividend of Rs 116 crore for financial year 2015-16 to Himachal Pradesh government, which holds25.51 per cent equity shares of SJVN.

SJVN undertakes the CSR and Sustainability projects in 6 verticals namely, Health and hygiene, Education and Skill Development, Sustainable Development, Infrastructural and community development, Assistance during natural disaster, Promotion of culture and Sports, and during past five years more than 2400 local youth have been trained in various vocational trades, Sharma said.

In the area of health, SJVN is operating 14 mobile health vans which have benefitted more than 3 lakh patients besides 120 health camps have been organized benefitting around 30,000 patients.
