Goa Congress Chief Subhash Shirodkar today said that skeletons found buried at the backyard of a homoeopathic college run by him were meant for teaching and the college had obtained permission to procure cadavers from the state medical college for the purpose.
Nine skeletons were found at the backyard of Shree Kamaxi Homoeopathic College in Shiroda village last week by police, who have sent them for forensic examination.
Stating that he was ready to face any enquiry in the matter, Shirodkar said that the college has the relevant permission to procure cadavers from Goa Medical College(GMC), which are required for teaching.

"We have been getting cadavers from GMC since 1999," he said adding the skeletons found in the pit were disposed off by the college after they were found to be of no use for the purpose of teaching.
"It's a four metre pit where we disposed off the bodies and Goa State Pollution Control Board has been inspecting the pit annually," he said.
The last body buried in the pit was in January and GSPCB officials inspected the pit in March and issued the required certificate, he pointed out.
