Officials in Rajahmindry district of Andhra Pradesh can now monitor functioning of welfare hostels through the 'Skype software' system.
The system was inaugurated by deputy Chief Minister N Chinnrajappa here.
"The software provides information about student inmates of hostels, their attendance and welfare and also a video calling facility," he said.

The minister said the laptops supplied to 97 social welfare hostels which are existed in the district would be used for this purpose by downloading the software and utilising the video camera and mic for video calling.
"This would facilitate the district officers and constituency development officers to monitor the hostels by interacting with staff and inmates," he added.
