Bangkok streets witnessed early morning traffic snarls today after the navigation system of its popular elevated train service, the Skytrain, malfunctioned, forcing thousands of people to seek other public mode of transportation.
The sky-train is expected to resume this afternoon, Anat Apapirom, advisor to the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Company said.
He said the computerised controlling and navigation systems of both downtown Sukhumvit and business district Silom routes broke down at about 3 am. The malfunction was the first in 14 years, he said.
