SL court remands 4 fishermen to judicial custody till Oct 14

A court in Sri Lanka today remanded till October 14, four fishermen from Tamil Nadu, arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for reportedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line.

Oorkaval Thurai Magistrate M Mahenthira Raja passed the order remanding them to judicial custody till October 14, U Arulanandam, president of Pamban Innocent Fishermen's Organisation told reporters here, quoting information he received from Sri Lanka.

The four were part of a group of about 2,000 fishermen who had put out to sea in 500 mechanised boats yesterday from this coastal town, he said.

The fishermen have been lodged in a prison in Jaffna.
