Sports Minister Navin Dissanayake is to institute disciplinary proceedings against officials who have been faulted in an investigation to probe sexual harassment of members of the Sri Lankan women's cricket team.
"The Committee report found evidence of sexual harassment by members of the Sri Lanka Cricket Women's management team against several members of the Sri Lanka Cricket women's team and the Minister intends to take disciplinary actions against those members where evidence has been found," a Ministry release said today.
"The Sports Ministry will also forward the recommendations of the said committee to the interim committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board with strict instructions to follow the recommendations of the said Committee," it added.

It was said that some national women cricketers were required to perform sexual favours for officials, in order to be picked or to retain their place in the national side.
