The wife of slain Deputy Superintendent of Police Zia-ul-Haq today visited Kunda for the first time since he was murdered there earlier this month and vowed to continue her fight for justice.
Escorted by security personnel, Parveen Azad, who has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty police welfare following Haq's murder on March 2, stayed for four hours in Kunda during which she collected his belongings from the house where he stayed and CBI officials probing the case also met her.
"I am a martyr's wife. I have to be strong and I will continue fighting for truth and for justice," she told reporters.
Azad said so far she was satisfied with the pace of the probe but will not take lying down any attempts to derail it. "All I want is justice. It does not matter if the culprit is a king or a commoner, he should be punished," he said.
The wife of the slain DSP had alleged the hand of former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya's in the killing of her husband, which led to his resignation from the Akhilesh Yadav government.
Haq, who was posted as circle officer Kunda, was shot dead on the night of March 2 when he had gone to control violence in Balipur village following murder of village head Nanhe Yadav.
Yadav's brother was also killed in the violence.
The CBI has registered four cases in connection with the three murders in Ballipur village and booked Raja Bhaiyya in one of them on the complaint of Azad. The former minister's cousin and Member of State Legislative Council Akshay Pratap Singh has also been questioned in connection with the case.
