Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said slander campaigns and criticisms cannot stop development work in the state, apparently hinting at her criticism by opposition parties during the Assembly polls.
"Our motto is more and more developmental work. If you work and bring in development no amount of criticism or conspiracy can stand in front of it. All the development work that has started in the last five years will continue," she said in her first meeting in West Midnapore district after the polls.
During her election campaign, Banerjee had promised to come to Narayangarh if Trinamool Congress candiate was elected from this constituency.

CPI-M state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra, who was the former leader of opposition, had contested from here and was defeated.
Banerjee thanked the people of Narayangarh for responding to her appeal of electing the TMC nominee in spite of "slander campaign and conspiracy".
"I thank the people of Narayangarh for giving a new ray of hope by giving us such a massive victory ... I will start my administrative review meeting from this district," she said adding the victory of TMC as the victory of the people and good governance.
Announcing the construction of a 300-bed multi-super speciality hospital in this area and a new college, she said a new power sub-station and a food grains godown would also be constructed.
She also inaugurated 32 new projects for Midnapore area and laid foundation stone for 14 others.
The chief minister handed over cycles, tractors, motor rollers, fishing nets, rickshaw vans, 'Kanyasree' and 'Yubasree' scheme cards among other things to 15000 direct beneficiaries.
Banerjee directed the party MLAs and representatives of zilla parishad, saying, "You (MLAs and Zilla Parishad represntatives) all have to work for the people and be with the people. Listen to their grievances.
