Slight tremor jolts Kishtwar district

A moderate earthquake today shook the mountainous district of Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir, triggering fear among the people.

There were no loss of life or injury reported anywhere from the area, officials said.

The quake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale hit the area at 1:07 PM, MeT officials said, adding that it lasted for few seconds.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 15 kms north-east of Kishtwar area, they said.

The quake triggered fear among the people, who rushed out of their homes.

A series of tremors have jolted Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar areas of the state in the past few months.
