The first outcome budget of the Aam Aadmi Party government presented in Delhi Assembly today showed delay in execution of the signal-free Barapullah phase III stretch by the Public Works Department (PWD).

Seventy per cent work on the phase III project of Brapullah flyover is targeted for completion in the current year. However, only 52 per cent work was completed by December 2017, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said.

Phase III of the Barapullah flyover, connecting Sarai Kale Khan in south Delhi to Mayur Vihar in east Delhi, was slowed due to hurdles in land acquisition, he said.

The entire corridor of Barapulla flyovers, which consist of four phases, will be a signal-free stretch for commuters travelling between east Delhi and the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Presenting the outcome budget of the PWD, he said 24 programmes of the department were evaluated and 55 per cent of the total 56 critical indicators were found to be 'on track', meaning more than 70 per cent performance was achieved.

The PWD is maintaining 1260 Km of roads having different rights of way. It was planned to strengthen about 300-km roads during 2017-18, he added.
