Small sugar drops on weak demand, improved supplies

Small sugar prices dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to reduced offtake by stockists and retailers against adequate stock positions.

While, medium sugar continued to trade mixed on the back of uneven demand and supply.

Small sugar (S-30) fell by Rs 40/14 per quintal to settle at Rs 2,450/2,581 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 2,490/2,595.

However, medium sugar (M-30) was quoted at Rs 2,536/2,696 per quintal as against Rs 2,532/2,742 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,450/2,581 (Rs 2,490/2,595).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,536/2,696 (Rs 2,532/2,742).
