Small sugar firms up on sustained demand

Small sugar prices firmed up at the Vashi wholesale sugar market here today on sustained demand from bulk consumers as well as good millers offtake.

In contrast, medium sugar edged down owing to subdued demand amidst continued selling from mills.

Small sugar (S-30) shot-up by Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 3,132/3,231 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,112/3,211.

However, medium sugar (M-30) moved down by Rs 2 per quintal to Rs 3,210/3,401 as against Rs 3,212/3,401 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,132/3,231 (Rs 3,112/3,211.
 

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,210/3,401 (Rs 3,212/3,401).
