Small sugar hardens on persistent demand

Small sugar prices hardened at the Vashi wholesale market here today following persistent demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Medium sugar also recovered on renewed demand from stockists and retailers and good millers offtake.

Small sugar (S-30) surged by Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 3,822/3,942 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,822/3,922.

Medium sugar (M-30) gained by Rs 4/10 per quintal to Rs 3,850/4,092 against Rs 3,846/4,082 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,822/3,942 (Rs 3,822/3,922).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,850/4,092 (Rs 3,846/4,082).
