Small sugar slumps on low demand, ample supply

Small sugar prices slumped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid ample supply positions.

While, medium sugar recovered moderately following good offtake from stockists and retailers.

Small sugar (S-30) dropped by Rs 61 per quintal to Rs 3,620/3,680 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,620/ 3,741.

However, medium sugar (M-30) gained by Rs 8/10 per quintal to Rs 3,720/3,852 as against Rs 3,712/3,842 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,620/3,680 (Rs 3,620/3741).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,720/3,852 (Rs 3,712/3,842).
