The SmartCity Kochi Wednesday organised a meeting of companies here to explore their voluntary support to the massive efforts towards the rehabilitation of those affected in the recent Kerala floods.

Close to 30 companies operating in the campus of the SmartCity Kochi attended the meeting, it said in a release.

Ernakulam District Collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla met the CEOs, Business Heads of operating companies and co-developers, along with SmartCity CEO Manoj Nair.

He apprisedthem on the extent of the economic damage and requested them to join the mission of rebuilding the flood-hit areas and helping the affected people.

Besides contributing to the Chief Ministers Distress Relief Fund, the companies can also partner with the administration in rehabilitating and helping people to bring their life back to normalcy, Safirulla suggested.

He pointed out that the magnitude of the calamity was so huge that thousands had been rendered homeless and rebuilding their homes and basic infrastructure needed generous support from all quarters.

The district was among the worst affected in the unprecedented deluge last month triggered by torrential monsoon rains that left a huge trail of destruction in the state.
