Passengers on an Allegiant Air plane that made an emergency landing minutes after taking off from St Pete-Clearwater International Airport will soon be heading to their original destination in Maryland.
Authorities say smoke appeared in the cabin of flight 864 about eight minutes after takeoff yesterday afternoon. The plane landed 24 minutes after takeoff. Passengers evacuated on emergency slides. The flight to Maryland's Hagerstown Regional Airport was rescheduled for today.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that three passengers and one flight attendant had reported injuries to Nevada-based Allegiant by last night. Allegiant says it had no reports of anyone going to the hospital.
The 141 passengers will receive vouchers for USD 200 and a full refund for the flight. The airline said it would provide hotel rooms for passengers who don't live in the area.
