Union Minister Smriti Irani called on Kerala Governor P Sathasivam at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
Irani was here in connection with the state-level inauguration of the National Nutrition mission and discussed with the governor the progress of the Mission's activities, a Raj Bhavan press release said.
During the courtesy call, which lasted half an hour, the minister sought the governors patronage and guidance in encouraging activities by related departments for improving the health and nutritional status of women and children.
Gearing up the working of Anganwadis in the State and the launch of multi-media campaigns to meet the Nutrition Missions objective of ensuring malnutrition-free India by 2022 also figured in their discussion, the release said.
The governor assured wholehearted support for the success of this central project in the State, which has already made considerable progress in the welfare of women and children.
