Smriti, Sharmila to spearhead home Challenge at Indian Open

Apart from Sharmila and Nicollet, who had qualified for the Ladies European Tour last year, other Indians in the field will be rookie Vani Kapoor, who made the cut as an amateur last year, Nalini Singh Siwach and Neha Tripathi.

The sixth edition of the tri-sanctioned tournament will have at least four of the top-10 players on the LET Order of Merit, including the leader Carlota Ciganda.

Ciganda, Carly Booth and Stacey Keating have won twice each on the LET.

Defending champion Caroline Hedwall will also the player to beat as she overcame injuries win Uniqa ladies Golf Open Raiffeisen in September for her fifth Let Title.

 

Nicollet says she is fit and hopes to do well in home conditions.

"I'm playing on my own course this year. The course is in great condition. I had a lot of injuries in the past few months. I tried to recover by resting. I'm 100 per cent here to win. My confidence has amplified, I think last two years of playing here will be an advantage for me," the 21-year-old said. More
