SMT to establish European HQ in Ireland

Medical devices firm Sahajanand Medical Technologies (SMT) plans to set up its European headquarters in Ireland which will have a research, development and innovation centre.

The core functions of the Ireland centre would be R&D and logistics. The centre will have detailed and advanced research on developing next generation stent, Sahajanand Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd said.

The company, however, did not provide any financial details about the investments it will be making in establishing the headquarters and the R&D centre.

"With this centre, we hope to tap into the excellent talent pool available in Galway to make further enhancements in existing products and to develop new and innovative products," SMT Western European Head Gaurav Goel said in a statement.
 

The company was a pioneer among Indian medical device companies to identify tremendous value in investing in research & development, he added.

Sahajanand Medical Technologies is a leading stent manufacturer and sells its product in more than 60 countries across the world.
