Sahajanand Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd (SMT), a manufacturer of coronary stents, Tuesday proposed to set up a Rs 250-crore unit at Sultanpur to make minimally invasive life-saving medical devices in Telangana.
The proposed unit is expected to generate 2,200 direct and 500 indirect employment opportunities in the state, an official press release said.
The facility would have a manufacturing capacity of more than 1.25 million stents per annum, the press release said.

''We are delighted to have a company that manufactures technologically sophisticated implantable products such as stents at global standards, '' the release quoted the minister as saying.
''This further reinforces Telangana's position as a preferred destination for innovator and technology companies, the Minister said.
