Smuggler held on Nepal border with 4-kg gold

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel have arrested a gold smuggler at Uttar Pradesh's Sonauli bordering Nepal, and seized four kgs of the precious metal from him.

According to SSB commandant K S Bankothi, the accused, Arvind Pal Singh hailing from Faridkot in Punjab, was nabbed at the border checkpost after he was found carrying 4-kg gold worth Rs 1.10 crore.

Arvind told interrogators that he had bought the gold from Bangkok and was on his way to Delhi for selling it, the SSB commandant said, adding that he had been handed over to customs officials.
