Smuggler killed, heroin worth Rs 45 cr seized

A smuggler has been killed in an encounter between BSF personnel and Pakistani smugglers in Ferozpur sector on the international border here.

Nine packets of heroin, two pistols, two magazines, 15 rounds and three mobiles were recovered in the encounter late last night. The one kilogrammes heroin packets are worth Rs 45 crore in the international market.

DIG (Punjab Frontier) RPS Jaiswal today said that BSF personnel noticed some suspected activities of two persons on the Jagdish outpost of Ferozpur sector after 1:30 am.

The jawans challenged the duo following which the smugglers started firing.

Later on, the jawans also started firing in self-defence in which one smuggler was killed while the other fled, Jaiswal said.
 

Punjab Frontier jawans have recovered over 304 kilogrammes of heroin from the Pak border this year.
