Snag forces Airlanka flight to return

A Colombo-bound Airlanka flight with 125 passengers returned to the airport here minutes after take-off as the pilot noticed a technical snag.

The aircraft took off at its scheduled departure time of around 4.30 pm but just as it was airborne, the pilot noticed the snag and informed the airport authorities, airport sources said.

Immediately, the flight was allowed to land here and moved to a separate bay and passengers taken to the terminal.

After rectifying the snag, the aircraft left for its destination at around 8.30 pm, they said.
