Snag-hit Jet flight makes emergency landing; passengers safe

A Jet Airways plane, with 67 passengers and crew onboard, had to make emergency landing at the airport here due to some technical problem with the aircraft's landing gear, police said.

All the 59 passengers and eight crew on-board the Delhi-Varanasi-Khajuraho flight disembarked safely, the airline said.

"The Jet Airways flight made an emergency landing at Khajuraho airport at around 1.30 PM due to some technical snag," Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Mubarak Ali said, adding all passengers were safe.

According to a Jet statement, flight 9W-2423 from Varanasi was involved in an incident on landing at Khajuraho Airport today.
 

"The aircraft, a Boeing B737-800, experienced a technical problem with the landing gear. Safety chutes were deployed and all the 59 passengers and eight crew on-board the aircraft disembarked safely and were transferred to the terminal," it said.

Jet is making arrangements to transfer outbound guests to Varanasi and Delhi, an additional flight was also being operated on the Delhi-Varanasi sector to accommodate the outbound guests, it said.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed of the incident, the statement said, adding Jet Airways would be working closely with authorities during the investigation into the cause of this incident.
