BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today said the country was heading towards mid-term polls and ruled out the emergence of Third Front as an alternative.

"The country would face mid-term elections, most likely after October, as people are disillusioned with the anti-people policies of Congress government", Naidu said while addressing a rally as part of his party's public outreach programme under "Praja Chaitanya Yatra".

Referring to the recent exit of Karunanidhi-led DMK, which was providing outside support to Congress-led UPA, Naidu said that writing was clear on the wall for Congress.

"People are vexed with policies of Central government. In such a scenario, only BJP and not any Third Front is the alternative to Congress because our party will provide stable governance," said Naidu.

Naidu's remarks came amid speculations over the future turn of events following DMK's withdrawal and SP chief Mulayam Singh's prediction that "the future belongs to coalition governments".

On Telangana issue, Naidu said, "BJP would form the separate state by respecting the aspirations of people. Congress has done nothing but betrayed people of the region by keeping the Telangana issue hanging".

During his speech, Naidu appealed to BJP cadres to spread awareness about "anti-people" policies of Congress.
