The decision of SNDP Yogam, founded by 19th century saint reformer Sree Narayana Guru, assumes significance as BJP, which is yet to open its account in the state, has already started wooing the organisation into its fold for electoral gains.
As part of BJP's plans to expand its base ahead of civic polls due in November and Assembly polls next year, BJP president Amit Shah had a meeting with Nateshan recently. VHP leader Praveen Togadia had also met Nateshan some time back.
Reacting to the SNDP's move to float a political party, BJP state President V Muraleedharn said they would only be too happy to have tie up with the outfit.
Not taking kindly to the development, a miffed CPI(M) today said that it is better if SNDP continues to propagate the messages of the Guru rather than enter politics.
CPI(M) state secretary, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told reporters here that earlier experiments of organisations like SNDP and Nair Service Society (NSS) to jump into political arena by floating political parties had failed.
"The experiment is not going to succeed this time also," he said.
The Left party also asked SNDP to rectify its stand of warming up to RSS and BJP.
