A number of places in Chamoli district, including the famous slopes of Auli and the Himalayan shrine of Badrinath, received fresh snowfall today, intensifying cold conditions in adjoining areas.
Clouds started gathering in the sky early in the day and snowing began on the skiing slopes of Auli, Tungnath, Chopta, Rudranath and Badrinath by the afternoon, causing a sharp fall in temperature at these places and surrounding areas, according to the district disaster management centre.
However, Dehradun woke up to a bright sunny morning even as overnight showers and icy winds blowing from the mountains kept the state capital cool.
The maximum temperature recorded at 8.30 AM today in Dehradun was 24.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was pegged at 8.6 degrees Celsius.
